The Studio
W.A. Bolin is one of few jewellers in Sweden that employs its own full-time goldsmiths. They work in a studio adjacent to our shop on Stureplan in central Stockholm, which is also unusual. We presently have three experienced goldsmiths working for us as well as a couple of part-time employees.
Our studio gives W.A. Bolin the unique opportunity to both develop our own collection and carry out advanced bespoke commissions for our customers.
Goldsmith’s work is a traditional craft that takes a long time to learn and requires proper training. While the craft has obviously evolved over the centuries, many of the tools and manufacturing methods remain the same since machines cannot execute the same degree of precision and exquisite finish. Goldsmith’s work is one of the few crafts that remains a time-consuming craft – for the simple reason that the materials a goldsmith works with are so precious and so time-consuming that it is worth spending the time and effort to produce uncompromising quality.
W.A. Bolin’s unique history and tradition is a legacy that brings with it certain obligations. Only by having talented goldsmiths working in our own studio can we set a standard for our jewellery and other objects that can live up to this obligation.
