Luxurious auction brings magnificent results at court jeweller W.A. Bolin
This spring’s jewellery auction glittered with an abundance of splendid jewels. On this sunny day a large number of interested speculators gathered for some lively bidding in a sparkling atmosphere. The auction room was crowded and the hammer prices for the jewellery sold reached a fantastic total of SEK 11.2 million.
The most desirable object in the auction was a unique rivière necklace in platinum with emerald-cut diamonds, which went under the hammer for SEK 930,000 (number 216). A magnificent platinum bracelet with diamonds fetched SEK 185,000 (no. 105). Bidding for a splendid solitaire ring with a modified cushion-cut 4.01 ct brilliant diamond started at SEK 380,000 and closed at SEK 410,000 (no. 244). The beautiful cipher pin with a crowned monogram S for Queen Sofia of Sweden went for SEK 32,000 (no. 15).
A number of beautiful pieces achieved far higher prices than estimated. A stylish bracelet/tiara in platinum with 5 rubies of approx. 8 ct plus brilliants and diamonds of approx. 3 ct went to a new owner for 70 per cent above estimate (no. 25). It sold for SEK 120,000 from a starting price of SEK 70,000. A pearl necklace with clean lines and 41 graduated South Sea pearls from 9-12 mm changed hands for SEK 45,000 – representing a 60 per cent increase (no. 92) on its starting price of SEK 28,000. In addition, the fabulous ring in 18 ct white gold with an oval naturally yellow 3.08 ct brilliant went for SEK 160,000 (no. 143). Its starting price was SEK 120,000.
As the auction ended, those attending stepped out into equally dazzling spring weather!

W.A. Bolin’s jewellery auction heralds a glittering spring

For the person looking for a more weighty investment, there is the most expensive item in the auction – a unique rivière necklace in platinum with 113 graduated emerald-cut diamonds, 44.10 ct. Starting price SEK 950,000 (no. 216).
Invest in a stylish bracelet/tiara in platinum with 5 rubies of approx. 8 ct plus brilliants and diamonds of approx. 3 ct. Starting price SEK 70,000 (no. 25). Also suitable for the season’s parties is a classic necklace/tiara in platinum with 7 large brilliant-cut diamonds, approx. 2.40 ct, and smaller diamonds of approx. 2 ct. Starting price SEK 75,000 (no. 302). The auction offers an elegant bracelet in platinum with 9 large old-cut brilliants and diamonds, approx. 20 ct. Starting price SEK 200,000 (no. 105). Magnificent auction and best result ever for court jeweller W.A. Bolin
There was a flurry of spending at this autumn’s eagerly anticipated jewellery auction. Keen speculators gathered in the shop, contributing to a wonderful atmosphere and unusually lively bidding both in the room and by phone. The bids came thick and fast and the total hammer price for all items auctioned was an amazing SEK 11 million – W.A. Bolin’s best result ever.
Bidding for a pair of splendid solitaire earrings in 18 ct white gold with two 4.64 ct brilliants (catalogue no. 288) started at SEK 290,000 and rose to SEK 410,000. A beautiful platinum pendant with a solid black opal (no. 54) tripled in value compared with its starting price, with bids starting at SEK 26,000 and closing at SEK 77,000. A brooch in white gold with a sapphire (no. 111) achieved a 65% increase on the starting price of SEK 28,000 and went under the hammer for SEK 46,000.
Other quality investments included the three stars of the auction. The magnificent solitaire ring in white gold with an emerald-cut 7.05 ct diamond (no. 137) sold for SEK 875,000. Its starting price was SEK 850,000. The splendid platinum bracelet with emerald-cut diamonds (no. 243) went under the hammer for SEK 825,000. The exclusive ring in white gold with an Asscher-cut 5.12 ct diamond (no. 323) went to a new owner for a price of SEK 855,000.
Another sparkling investment was a pair of elegant brilliant earrings (no. 324) which achieved a hammer price of SEK 190,000. The cover star, an enchanting brooch depicting a Russian izba dwelling (no. 120), went to a new home for SEK 72,000.
This atmospheric autumn day provided an auction experience beyond the ordinary, featuring wonderful luxury and beautiful jewels.

Time to gild autumn with a fabulous jewellery auction at W.A. Bolin
Sunday 15 November promises a splendid autumn jewellery auction at W.A. Bolin, one of the leading jewellery auctions in the Scandinavian countries. Another good buy is an exquisite ring in 18 carat white gold with an extraordinary 5.12 carat Asscher-cut diamond and 2 trapezoid diamonds of 1.40 carats (no. 323), starting price SEK 880,000.
